Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Kent
Coronavirus Pandemic
The Coronavirus Pandemic has affected the majority of the known world and resulted in a Notice of General Suspension of all Masonic Activity issued on the 17th March 2020 which lasted for four months. This was ultimately superseded by a notice from Grand Lodge on the 6th July 2020 announcing that the general suspension would be lifted, subject to Government and Local Authority advice, with effect from 17th July 2020.

Coronavirus Pandemic

Whilst members have been advised that at all times we must adhere to any Government guidelines which may be in place, no one, irrespective of their office, is to be coerced into attending a meeting. Currently, there is to be no singing during ceremonies and no festive boards are to be held; protective face masks must be worn and common sense must prevail.

During the period of suspension, various notices and instructions were issued including one concerning Coronavirus Myths Debunked on 20th March 2020. Following this the Prov.G.M.’s announcement about waiving annual dues paid to Provincial Grand Lodge by Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Lodges was issued on the 27th March 2020.

As part of our Province’s response to the Coronavirus Pandemic the Provincial Grand Master’s Discretionary Fund was launched. This provides an additional source of funding for those members who find themselves to be in financial difficulty due to the lockdown.

Whilst this has proved to be a difficult time for all, many Mark Master Masons and Royal Ark Mariners have proved themselves to be local heroes by manufacturing P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment) and delivering meals, groceries and medication to those in need.

Many of the stories have been highlighted in our Provincial Grand Almoner’s newsletters which are published monthly and in the News section of this website.
