Invicta Mark drink a toast to the 2020 Festival

W.Bro Tony Poynter, the Worshipful Master of the Invicta Mark Lodge 378, and his partner Teresa welcomed 60 guests to a wine tasting evening at the Ashford Masonic Centre on Saturday 31st October to support the 2020 Festival.

Many members and their partners of the Invicta Mark lodge gave up their time to ensure that the evening would be a success, which it was. Amongst the many members of the lodge to give up their time special mention must be given to Richard Miller and Debbie Dodd without whose support it would have been a very dry and hungry evening.

Richard Miller, who is a wine importer by profession and a member of Ashford 8945 Craft Lodge, introduced an excellent selection of wines from around the world. Under his charismatic and expert tuition the wines introduced were eagerly quaffed and enjoyed by a very lively and appreciative audience.

During the transition from white wine to red wine a buffet of monstrous portions was provided free of charge by Debbie the wife of Eric Dodd who is a member of the Invicta Mark Lodge.

Towards the end of the festivities the W.Bro Tony Poynter rose to thank all those who had helped make the evening such success and presented orchids to Debbie Dodd, Toni Ward (who provided some magnificent table decorations) and to Richard Miller’s partner Becky. In addition to these orchids W. Bro Tony was able to present to the DPGM V.W.Bro David Green a cheque for £1,200 that the evening had raised; he also said that he was delighted to announce that the Invicta Mark Lodge would top this donation up with an additional £1,000 from the Lodge Charity Fund in aid of the 2020 Festival making a total of £2,200 to the 20:20 Festival.

David thanked Tony and the brethren and their partners of the Invicta Mark Lodge for an excellently organised evening and briefly explained how the 2020 Festival was helping to improve lives locally and nationally with grants via the MBF to such worthy causes as the Hope of Tomorrow Charity.

This is specifically of interest in Ashford right now as that Charity is providing a mobile chemo unit at William Harvey Hospital on two days a week, because of closure of the ward at Ashford.
