On Saturday 6th May 2017, Torrance’s Trekkers, along with representatives of 37 other Mark Provinces, set out from Mark Masons’ Hall, St. James’s, London at 10.30am to complete the Mark Charity Walk following the route of the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk. This was to raise funds for the Mark Benevolent Fund, which celebrates its 150th Anniversary in 2018.

Approximately 300 walkers and a dog took part in the Walk. The leisurely pace allowed time for a great deal of banter to spark off between walkers of different Provinces and truly reflected the friendly nature of the Mark Degree.

Prior to the walk commencing, the Pro Grand Master M.W. Bro. Richard Wallis announced that the amount raised was approximately £312,000 which far exceeded the original target of £100,000 he had hoped could be achieved. Today on the 2nd June, after all donations have been received, the final figure stands at just under an incredible £420,000. This is a monumental achievement and truly encapsulates the generous spirit of Mark Masons throughout the country.

I, as the Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Province of Kent, was immensely proud to have led out Torrance’s Trekkers in this historic event. It was a truly wonderful experience for all our team – Perri Ahmet, Fred Brown, Ian Gallehawk, John Linkin, Brian Ward and me – and all our supporters. I would like to thank all members from the Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Lodges in the Mark Province of Kent, as well as family and friends, who have supported Torrance’s Trekkers. Your support and generosity amounted to a staggering £34,150 in sponsorship money, which is over 8% of the total amount raised. I am truly humbled by your generosity and support Thank you all again, you should be immensely proud of what we as a Province have achieved together.

Yours aye,
Archie
