Part of the reason for the visit was to present Kent Festival and Mark Benevolent Fund awards. Four Lodges received the Kent Festival Bronze Award, namely Hundred of Hoo Mark 1326, North Kent Mark 1682, North Kent Royal Ark Mariner 1682 and King Charles the Martyr Royal Ark Mariner Lodge 267.

To add to this, Millennium Royal Ark Mariner Lodge 1802 received its Mark Benevolent Fund Grand Patron award together with 2 members receiving a Grand Patron award, three receiving a Patron award and four receiving a Vice-Patron award. This really shows how the Province is pulling together to support the Mark Benevolent Fund 2020 Festival.

As has been circulated to the Province, WBro Paddy Langdown of St Martins Mark 262 has been running an initiative, “Any Spare Change”, where he has been gathering up unwanted currency of any age and denomination and converting it to Sterling. WBro Paddy took the opportunity of presenting the first fruits of his work to VW Bro David in the form of a cheque for £163, with more to come. An excellent initiative by WBro Paddy!

As if this were not enough, the Lodge sponsored the forthcoming Party in the Park to the sum of £200 and also made a further donation of £400 to the 2020 Festival, helping considerably and taking the Lodge very close to becoming a Gold Grand Patron of the Mark Benevolent Fund.

An excellent evening in a truly happy and welcoming Lodge.
