With 2020 getting ever closer, a milestone event took place on Tuesday 20 June when the Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Archie Torrance, attended the Kent Showground and event Centre and signed the contract, meaning that the date for the 2020 Festival celebration is now firmly fixed.

The venue for the event will be the spectacular Maidstone Exhibition Hall, Kent Showground, Detling, Kent, ME14 3JF, with use of the adjacent John Hendry Pavilion and Astor Pavilion. Much work was undertaken to find an appropriate venue. The desire of the committee was always to hold the venue in our home county of Kent. The Kent Event Centre provides us with an excellent venue, suitable for all weathers with on-site parking.

The date for the celebration has been fixed as Saturday 18 July 2020. This might seem like a long time away but it will be 2020 before we know it so please, Brethren, note the date in your diaries now. While the exact format of the event will be worked out over time, it will be an outstanding event to celebrate over eight years of hard work by the whole Province. There will be room for us all so don’t miss out. When the 2020 Festival is spoken of in the future, make sure you can say “I was there!”

The pictures show the PGM signing the contract with Ellie Nicholl, events coordinator for the Kent event Centre. RW Bro Archie said, “I’m delighted to have signed the contract and confirmed that we will be celebrating the 152nd Festival for the Mark Benevolent Fund at the Kent Event Centre. This will be a super occasion and I’m really looking forward to an event that will be remembered in Kent for many years. I would particularly like to thank Roger Odd for taking on the role of Festival Event Co-ordinator. Let’s make sure we all do whatever we can to help Roger over the next three years.”
