A Barnstorming London Marathon Performance

A Barnstorming London Marathon PerformanceCongratulations from everyone in the Province to Bro. Jamie Barnes of the Dover & Cinque Ports Mark Lodge No. 152, who completed this year's London Marathon in 5 hours and 7 minutes, in record temperatures

Along the way he raised more than £1000 in sponsorship, with more to come, which he is sharing between the RNLI and Pilgrims Hospices, two charities that are close to Jamie's heart.

Jamie is also in the appendant Royal Ark Mariner degree which is not really surprising as the sea plays a big part in his life, since not only does he work as a steward on one of the town's cross-channel ferries but is also a crew member at the Dover RNLI Lifeboat Station.

Once he had got his breath back and topped up his fluids, and before preparing for last weekend's Ranscombe Spring Marathon in Rochester, Jamie told us that he was “Very proud to have raised money for both the RNLI and Pilgrims Hospice, as both charities make a huge difference to people lives”.
