The Provincial Officers’ Mess continues to go from strength to strength as was seen on Saturday 13th April, when over 100 members and guests sat down to dine in a typically Mark Master Masons’ happy atmosphere at the Franklin Rooms in Gillingham.

The President of the Mess, RW. Bro. Archie Torrance, updated those brethren present with details of past and future events and activities within the Province, including the announcement that W. Bro. Rob Wilshire will be joining the Provincial Membership Committee in the newly created post of Royal Ark Mariner Liaison Officer.

Another of the popular “Grid” raffles for a pair of 2020 Festival event tickets was also held and the lucky winner, W. Bro. Peter Smith, will now be attending the 2020 Festival event on Saturday 13th June 2020 at no further cost! As previously advertised the draw for the late Brian Meeres’ pocket watch was made on the day, the lucky winner being Bro. Robert Harman-Bull of Folkestone Mark No.380.

Many thanks must go to the outgoing Mess Secretary, W. Bro. Peter Hargreaves, for organising such an excellent event and also to the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro. Ivor Spencer, for managing the events of the day in his usual unflustered style. Afterwards Peter received the following email from W. Bro. Chris Clark of Herne Bay Mark No.771 – “Dear Peter, Thank you for organising the Provincial Mess on Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed it, I have been a provincial officer for many years and I can’t understand why I have never attended previously. The meal was very good and the company even better. Thank you again for all your hard work, very much appreciated. Please could I be placed on your successors mailing list for next year.”

If you are a Provincial Officer, don’t miss out, make sure you are a member of the Mess and that you join us next year to be part of one of the principal events in the Provincial Calendar.
