On Sunday 18th July 2021 the Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex hosted this year’s Mark Inter-Provincial Cricket Tournament at Radlett Cricket Club, a regular haunt of their county team.

This long-standing annual tournament brings together teams and supporters from the neighbouring Mark Provinces of Kent, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex with each taking it in turns to host this friendly day. Unfortunately, on this occasion, and due to circumstances beyond their control Sussex were unable to attend.

Reverting to a triangular tournament, the day saw three very entertaining matches. First-off was Surrey vs Kent, with our Provincial team Captained by Simon Clare edging out Surrey, Captained by W.Bro. David Lawrence’s Goddaughter, Kirstin.

Next up, defending champions Middlesex played Surrey and came out on top, setting up a final encounter with Kent.

In the final, for the Norman Todd Cup, the Middlesex XI batted first and set their Kent counterparts a challenging target. Their total proved too much for us, meaning that we had to settle for second place with Middlesex retaining their crown for a further year.

Our gratitude goes to R.W.Bro. Eddie Garty, Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Province of Middlesex, and his team for organising an excellent and safe day in testing circumstances.

The proceeds of the day will help to swell the 2022 Mark Benevolent Fund Festival which is being hosted by Surrey culminating in a Festival Celebration Dinner on Saturday, 2 July 2022, at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel, Gatwick.

Next year’s tournament takes place in Surrey. If you are interested in playing please contact us via submissions@kentmarkmastermasons.org.uk.
