A most unusual occurrence took place at the Mark Lodge of Sympathy’s December meeting in Gravesend.
On the night, which was attended by VW. Bro. Fred Brown DPGM in an unofficial capacity, Bro. Harry Stevens was advanced into the Lodge; nothing unusual there.
The key role of Senior Deacon was excellently performed by Harryâs Brother, Daniel; again a little uncommon, but certainly not particularly unusual in our friendly degree.
However, Daniel had only been Advanced himself in February and it was the first time that he had carried out the office. In fact, he deliberately attended the Provincial Follow Up Meeting in Wrotham solely to witness his first Advancement ceremony in preparation of escorting Harry through his own Advancement.
VW. Bro. Fred commented that “He hopes they both have a happy and long membership of the Mark, and hopefully Royal Ark Mariner Degrees, and looks forward to seeing them again at the 2020 Annual Provincial Meeting in Bromley when the Provincial Grand Master can present Harry with his unique Kent Mark Token”.
This truly was a most unusual occurrence and an excellent example of Brotherly Love.
