We extend our congratulations and best wishes to Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro. Mark Costelloe of the Robinson Mark Lodge, who is to become an Assistant Provincial Grand Master in the Masonic Province of East Kent. He will be invested at the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting to be held in Margate on Friday 17th April 2020.

Mark was Advanced into Maidstone’s Robinson Mark Lodge No.255 in February 2010, becoming Worshipful Master in May 2017.

He was recently appointed as an Active Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies at our own Annual Provincial Meeting which was also held at Margate’s Winter Gardens in September.

Mark was born in 1965 and brought up in a rural village in Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. He was schooled at Portadown College where he excelled in athletics and rugby. In 1985 he undertook a career in Policing by moving to England and joining Kent Police.

In 1998 he was seconded to the National Crime Squad and in 2006 moved to the newly formed Serious and Organised Crime Agency, which later became the National Crime Agency in 2013.

During his career Mark investigated numerous serious and complex crimes both within the UK and abroad. A qualified trainer, he is skilled in overseeing the development and delivery of specialist courses and this resulted in him working in South America and Europe.

Mark is skilled in mentoring and assessing and in his latter years was responsible for assisting new NCA investigators to put theory into practice by practical application of their knowledge, skills and abilities. Having completed 30 years’ service Mark retired in 2015. Part time he now teaches suspect interview courses and crime scene management to local Police and the Home Office.

Outside Freemasonry he is married to Karen an NHS Manager, they enjoy holidaying at their other home in South Africa. Mark is a keen golfer and rugby fan. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, reading and the occasional glass of red wine.
