The personal picture that causes great mirth within the family, records the aftermath of a minor accident which took place in my angelic youth, aged 3, at my Grandparents home in Holloway.

My first representative role was as a team member at my village school in Wilmington. We competed in the Borough schools road safety quiz. Although we reached the final we were unable to claim the €˜belisha beacon €™ trophy.

My first full time employment was with the City of London Police. This ended when I moved to the London Fire Brigade where I enjoyed a particularly good career.

My commitments to Scouting, The Royal Life Saving Society and the Firefighters Memorial Trust have kept me €˜employed €™ for many hours throughout my life.

It was in the 2013 Birthday Honours list, that I took great pride in accepting appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire for €˜Public and Charitable Services €™.
