After 4 enjoyable years as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W Bro. Ralph Mannings Apperley PGJD has decided to retire from the role with effect from the date of our next annual meeting. I am sure I speak on behalf of you all when I say we are most grateful to Ralph for his tremendous contribution to the Mark Province of Kent and that we wish him well with all his other Masonic commitments.

I am delighted to announce that I have invited W Bro. Ian Gallehawk PAGDC to succeed Ralph and I shall have much pleasure in investing him at the annual meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge in the Winter Gardens, Margate on Saturday 30th September 2017.

W Bro. Ian is a member and past master of Lord Harris Mark Lodge No. 1494, a member and founder of Erdemont Mark Lodge No. 1894, a member of Kent Installed Mark Masters’ Lodge No. 999 and a member of Kent Mark Stewards’ Lodge No. 1691. He is a grand officer in the Mark Degree and a holder of Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank.

Ian is well known to you all as our Provincial Grand Charity Steward, a job he has been performing in a first class way since 2014. He is a member of our Executive Committee, Provincial Committee for General Purposes and 2020 Festival Committee & Fundraising sub-Committee. He manages several Lodge websites and has a high profile online presence on social media platforms. He is a double silver pin holder for ceremonies of excellence in both the Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Degrees. In short, he is well qualified to become an APGM.

I am confident that Ian will approach his new role with his usual commitment, enthusiasm and energy. He brings significant experience and skills to the role and I am sure he will add value to our Provincial leadership team. I wish him every success.
