Hosted this year by Surrey, the annual Mark Inter Provincial Cricket Tournament took place just around the M25 in Banstead, on Sunday 16th July at the Walcountians Sports Club, Clockhouse Ground.
The yearly competition and family fun day brings together teams from the Mark Provinces of Kent, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex with each taking it in turns to host the day. In a repeat of last year’s final, the Sussex team overcame Kent to lift the Norman Todd Cup with a combined Middlesex/Surrey team coming in third. After a similar period of Kent dominance, this is the fourth consecutive year that Sussex have won, which is a wonderful winning streak.
The Bill Balderson Memorial Trophy for the day’s ‘Champagne Moment’ went to Geoff Gower of Surrey/Middlesex for an athletic one-handed forward diving catch.
Thanks must go to Surrey’s PGM, RW Bro Ian Clark and his organising committee for a most enjoyable day. Likewise, thanks are extended to the players, umpires and to everyone who attended for their continued support for this annual event.
