At our recent Annual Provincial Meeting, VW. Bro. Fred Brown, PJGD, RAMGR was invested as our Deputy Provincial Grand Master

By definition, those who rise to such eminent Masonic rank have exceptional Masonic careers, more of which later, but we don’t often get to find out about the man behind the chain.

Fred was born in London in 1949 and lived in Clapham and Battersea before moving to Wimbledon and then to Broadstairs at the age of
13, where he attended The Charles Dickens Secondary School.

He left school at the age of 15 to take up an apprenticeship with a international sign manufacturing company based in the town. He was promoted to Assistant Production Manager then finally to Production Manager before leaving to start his own contract cleaning company which he still runs to this day.

Fred is married to Jill with 2 grown up children, Natalie and Nicholas. His hobbies include course fishing, cricket and golf, although he is unable to play the latter now due to a bad back.

Masonically, Fred was initiated into Broadstairs’ Bradstow Craft Lodge in 1996 and was exalted into the Holy Royal Arch in 1998. In the same year Fred was advanced into the St Peter-In-Thanet Mark Lodge No. 1053, becoming Master in 2002 and was elevated into the Thanet Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners in 2004, becoming Commander in 2011. On route to his new role of DPGM, he was appointed a Mark Grand Steward in 2009, PGJD in 2012 and APGM 2013.

Fred was appointed to Provincial Craft Grand Rank as a PPGSD in 2014, the same year that he joined the Allied Masonic Degrees.
In short, he is very well qualified to be our new Deputy Provincial Grand Master.
