You may recall that the ceremonial sword belonging to the Province was stolen in a burglary in March 2016. Every effort was made to find it via a police investigation and through wide publicity on social media platforms but without success.
In June 2017, the sword appeared listed for sale on the website of a well known auction house in Kensington, London. The Metropolitan Police Service and the insurers were informed, the case was re-opened and Mr Chris Marinello, CEO of Arts Recovery International, was appointed to lead the recovery investigation on behalf of the insurers.
We are delighted to report that the Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, attended the auction house in question and took possession of our sword.
