In August 2020 the Mark Benevolent Fund approved a grant of £158,970 in favour of the Kingfisher Medway Trust to commission the building of a specially designed river cruiser for use on The Medway by those with physical disabilities, mental health issues or long-term illnesses.

After 12 months the work is now nearing completion and a launch date for the new vessel has been scheduled for the 20th September 2021.

The MBF happily agreed for a competition to be held within the Mark Province of Kent to name the new vessel, where preference would be given to those suggestions that reflect Mark Masonry. After a great deal of deliberation by a panel of independent judges the winning entry was eventually chosen from 126 entries.

The name selected for the new vessel is ‘Kingfisher Mark’ which was suggested by W.Bro. Peter Dowling. Peter and his wife Karen will be invited to next month’s official launch ceremony.
