Seventy seven Brethren and guests gathered together on Monday May 13th, at the Dartford Masonic Centre on West Hill, when the Saye and Sele Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No. 309 met at a special meeting 100 years and three days after its Consecration to celebrate this very special event.

It was very fitting that Past Provincial Grand Master, RW. Bro. Roland Wade, who has done so much to document and preserve the history of the Mark Province of Kent, should have been in the Commander’s Chair.

Following a very brief meeting, an open session of the Lodge was held, to which all guests were invited and the current Provincial Grand Master, RW. Bro. Archie Torrance, addressed the assemblage with much praise and acclamation for the achievements of the Lodge. He then presented every member with a Centenary Jewel, a rare item, that will be worn with much pride.

The Festive Board, which was preceded by a champagne reception, took the form of a white table, where everyone shared in the joy and very special atmosphere of the occasion.

Given the vibrant attitude of the Lodge, we are sure that we can all look forward to the next 100 years, when this event will undoubtedly form part of the address from the then Provincial Grand Master.
