The annual Provincial Meeting for 2016 was held on Saturday 24 September at Oakley House at Bromley. The Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Archie Torrance, presided supported by a full retinue of his Provincial Executive. This was the first Provincial Meeting since the sad passing of VW Bro Bill Balderston and suitable tribute was paid as we all reflected on how VW Bro Bill and so many others are missed at each of our meetings.
The business of the meeting was dealt with in a packed room as Lodges and individuals were recognised for their contributions to the 2020 Festival and the MBF, newly Advanced brethren welcomed and members recognised with Provincial promotions or first appointments.

As ever, the business of the day seemed to pass very quickly and in what seemed like no time at all, some 180 brethren sat down to dine. The festive board was enhanced by the presentation of four excellent cakes by VW Bro Gerry Gangadeen, APGM for the Province of London. Three were consumed while the PGM for London, RW Bro David Ashbolt, presided over a “heads and tails” competition for the fourth. This raised over £500 for the 2020 Festival. The winner, WBro Peter Reader, can be seen in the photographs smiling at his success.

After the frenetic activity leading up to the meeting it’s hard to believe that it will be another 12 months before the event is repeated. Whether you made this meeting or not, please do your best to join us at Margate next year and really get to see the Province in action at its best.
